Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before your first hunt — or your first event.

Getting started
What is Venture Race?+

Venture is a real-world scavenger hunt app that turns any night out, event, or city into a live competition. Complete tasks at real bars and landmarks, submit photo or video proof, and compete on a live leaderboard with your crew.

How do I join a hunt?+

There are two ways. For Venture City, just open the app and tap Join on the city card — no code needed. For a private Venture Race hunt or a Venture Live event, enter the 6-character join code your host shared with you and tap Join.

How do I create a private hunt?+

Tap Create on the home screen and follow the four-step setup: pick a tier (Free or Premium), fill in the basics (mode and city), set the vibe (your occasion), then review your task list. Once you create the hunt, you get a join code and QR code to share with your crew.

Modes, pricing & Venture City
What is the difference between Party mode and Social mode?+

Party 21+ mode includes bar-hopping tasks, drinking tasks, and an optional drink-tracking tab where players can log individual drinks for bonus points. Social mode has all the same location and challenge tasks with no drinking content — great for work events, mixed groups, or anyone who prefers not to include alcohol.

Is Venture free?+

Venture City (the public city race) is always free to join. Private Venture Race hunts have a Free tier (library tasks, no AI personalization) and a Premium tier ($7.99 per hunt, fully personalized tasks). Venture Live is priced separately per event — see the question below. All tiers are free during the beta period.

What is Venture City?+

Venture City is a free, always-on public race for your city. Join your city's board anytime, earn points for every task you complete, and see where you land on the live leaderboard. It's live in 50 cities nationwide, and every city's board gets a fresh theme on the 1st of each month.

Venture Live, for events
What is Venture Live?+

Venture Live is built for large events and venues. A host launches a hunt for up to 100+ players with individual scoring, no teams, and an instant start. Players join with a code, see a welcome message written by the host, and compete on their own. It's designed for sporting events, campus tours, corporate outings, and venue partnerships.

How much does Venture Live cost?+

Venture Live is self-serve for events up to 100 guests — set your headcount and pay per person: $2.50/person for 1–25 guests, $2.00/person for 26–50, and $1.50/person for 51–100. Events over 100 guests get custom pricing — reach out at [email protected] to book.

Can a Venture Live host remove a participant or extend the event?+

Yes. A Venture Live host can remove a disruptive participant at any time — their points stay on the leaderboard as history, but they're taken out of live play. Hosts can also extend the end time on an active event, pushing it later (it can't be shortened once started).

Scoring & safety
How does scoring work?+

Each completed task is worth points based on difficulty. Submit photo or video proof to earn points. Harder tasks are worth more. In private hunts, team scores are the sum of all team members' individual scores. In Venture City and Venture Live, players are ranked individually. The leaderboard updates in real time across all devices.

Do I have to drink to play?+

No. Drinking tasks are completely optional in Party mode — you can skip any drink task with no penalty. Social mode has no drinking tasks at all. Venture City and Venture Live can also be set up without drinking tasks. Drink tasks are only ever shown to users who have verified they are 21 or older.

How does age verification work?+

When you create an account, we ask for your date of birth. If you are 21 or older, you can access Party mode and drinking tasks. If you are under 21, you can still use the full app — Venture City, Social mode, and Venture Live without drinking tasks are all available to you.

How do I report a problem with a submission or another user?+

In any active hunt, long-press any submission in the Feed tab to report it. You can include an optional note about why you're reporting it. From the same menu, you can also block a user — their posts are removed from your feed immediately.
